I’ve heard it said that there are no new or original ideas anymore, only remixes of old ideas. This definitely must be the case with all of my ideas since I have been studying people much smarter than me, for as long as I can remember. From Simon Sinek and Donald Miller to Tony Robbins and Gary Vaynerchuk, these thought leaders have served as virtual mentors, helping me navigate all of life’s challenges.
Special thanks to Paulo Coelho, Fr. Richard Rohr, Fr. Greg Boyle, C.S. Lewis, Francis Chan, Amanda Palmer, Brene Brown, Ed Thomas, Jim Valvano, Mitch Albom, Dr. Seuss, David Murrow, John Eldridge, Pat Summit, Stuart Scott, Randy Pausch, Zig Ziglar, Carl Smith, Dan Mall, Chris Coyier, and Dave Rupert. Though I have never met most of you, your work has significantly impacted my life, and I am greatly appreciative for the knowledge and inspiration I’ve received from each of you over the years.
Last, but definitely not least, I want to thank you, dear reader, for allowing me to pass on these insights that have been so graciously shared with me. I always maintain that I didn’t write this book for everyone, but that I wrote it for the select few that would find value in it. If these pages have made a positive impact in your life, then you are who I wrote this book for and you are part of the Posifocus community. As such, it would mean the world to me if we could connect and become part of each other’s journey.
For the past 20 years or so, I have ended all of my emails and written correspondence with the closing of “Godspeed,” to wish the recipients of my words all the favor, provision, and good fortune that God would have for them. In this same manner, it is my sincerest prayer that you will always have all the peace, hope, love, and community you need, regardless of how great the challenges you face might be.
May the wind forever be in your sails. Here’s to the Journey.
Posifocus Mantra #23
You have the power to live your life any way you want. You can go anywhere and be anything. All you need is the desire, an unshakable work ethic, and a little luck. God is for you.
Go. Start. Take the first step. Write down your desire for your life. Make the first phone call. Wash, rinse, and repeat.
